Outdoor Additions Created by Montana Wheeler

My name is Montana Wheeler, and I couldn’t be more proud to say I’m working here in my hometown with Mitchell Landscaping.  I’ve spent the last four years in DFW area pursuing my subcontracting company that offered me the ability to expand my knowledge in the backyard industry.  It didn’t take me long to fall in love with the idea of juggling both art and construction in a way that allowed families to make memories together in their backyard.  From the initial consultation, to the final walk around, the process has always been fun for not only the homeowners but myself.  I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to learn from some great mentors and couldn’t be happier to share it with anyone interested.

This business is constantly growing, there are so many options to explore, which allows each buyer the opportunity to express themselves and enjoy the fruits of their labor.  We take pride in our work, because we know you want to take pride in the luxuries you’re providing for you and your family.

That being said I couldn’t be more excited to be apart of a team that is as passionate as I am about the services we provide.  We strongly encourage yall to give us an opportunity to let that same passion shine through your backyard dreams.

Montana’s Work

The goal here was to take an industrial theme and modernize it, which I think we nailed! This project was very special to me as it was the first Barndominium Project I was blessed enough to help design and build, ultimately expanding my experience and knowledge regarding the collaboration of wood and metal.

Spanding nearly a whopping 500sqft, this beautiful deck and tie-in cover easily captures your attention. The massive vaulted tongue and groove ceiling has the ability to make you feel both small, but cozy at the same time.

A lot of fun building this one! Homeowner has personal ties to the existing pergola and didn’t want to see it go.  Fortunately we were able to leave the posts alone as only the rafters and slats were subject to rotting.  The result was a beautiful vaulted ceiling with exposed cedar rafters. Stunning color contrast between existing painted posts and new cedar ceilings.

Cute little shed roof here, broken up by a gabled roof in the center.  I like to suggest this idea whenever a shed roof is requested and spans over 15ft, gives it some character and doesn’t impact the price dramatically.  You’ll also notice a simple half wall to the left that gave them privacy from neighbors but not completely closing the space off.

Cantilvers are fascinating to me, part of this job is understanding physics, and these structures right here couldn’t be a more interesting example of that.  Not only is the design itself eye grabbing, but they also just aren’t that common.  This here is an immediate conversation piece sure to impress guest.

What a fun patio to build! Believe it or not nearly every rafter on this structure has a different compound cut at the top end that ties into the home.  End result looks as if it were built with the house, and we take a lot of pride in being able to say that.  The homeowner gave us free range here and the final product was nothing short of a spectacular place to host loved ones.

This was a beautiful, massive carport with a couple stipulations requested to meet the homeowners approval. First one being up and over the existing house roof so the water can shed on to it and catch the gutter that was placed on existing eave.  Second request was to match our new eave with existing independent garage. The end result was seamless, and looks right at home, which is always the goal.

To save the homeowner from further water damage, and money on repairs, we went ahead tore down the tied in deck and replaced it with a new independent one.  Not only we did we prevent an even more costly repair down the road, this homeowner got a lovely facelift as well.

Keepin’ it classy. White structures are modest, yet bold. Especially paired up with the Broze Polygal roofing system you see here.  Love, love, LOVE slapping this Polygal on pergolas. It’s a timeless structure than everyone knows and appreciates, paired with the perfect cover that keeps you dry but doesn’t take away from the open concept of the pergola.

Metal Carports!  These are always in demand here, mostly because they are arguably the most cost effective way to keep homeowner’s vehicles out of the weather. Aside from the square foot value, these builds are very versatile giving the buyer the freedom to personalize it if they wish.

Front yard projects, always a blast! Homeowner loved the pergola so much they requested a deck to sit on to enjoy it! Perfect option for parents that like to keep and eye on their kiddos playing in the neighborhood.  Not to mention how quickly you’ll become the talk of the block by dressing up that front yard.

All shapes and sizes! Tell us what you want, and we’ll get to work on making it possible. This particular build proved challenging due to the tie in points on existing house, as well as a portion of the roof and the far end.  The importance of the finished product looking like we were never there separates a good project from an exceptional product here at Mitchell.

What you see hear is actually a small portion of our largest backyard project to date: consisting of five structures, one outdoor kitchen, a bar, and in ground trampoline!  We were blessed to crush this classy, Victorian style and we couldn’t have been happier with the finished product.
